I am an engineering student currently in my third year pursuing physics + electronics. I am interested in applying for GSOC 2021. I have some experience in coding in C++ and know basic concepts of Computer Graphics.
I don’t know anything about open source and need guidance on how to start open source and what all topics should I read to comfortably pick up projects.
It’s not only about GSOC but I am interested in Computer Graphics and would like to start contributing to the field. I am eager to learn as much as possible.
Thanks in advance!
Welcome to our forum and thanks for your interest and enthusiasm.
I cannot promise that we will participate in next year’s GSoC. It depends on availability of mentors and being selected by Google.
You can have a look on https://github.com/appleseedhq/appleseed/wiki/How-to-Apply
for the guidance on application and further links.
Of course you are very welcome to contribute to appleseed also outside GSoC. The first step is usually to get all your developer tools (compiler, build environment) set up and then build appleseed from source. Detailed instructions can be found here: https://github.com/appleseedhq/appleseed/wiki/Building-appleseed
