Problem running the Python sample on macOS

#1

I’m trying to run the python sample on macOSX(10.12.5) and there seems to be some problem loading the native libs. I’m trying to run 1.7.0-beta1.

I’ve followed the instructions in the README in the basic python folder, and set up both PYTHONPATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH. But when I run basic.py, I get the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "basic.py", line 37, in <module>
    import appleseed as asr
  File "/Users/vinaysshenoy/Development/appleseed_dist/lib/python2.7/appleseed/__init__.py", line 34, in <module>
    from _appleseedpython import *
ImportError: dlopen(/Users/vinaysshenoy/Development/appleseed_dist/lib/python2.7/appleseed/_appleseedpython.so, 2): Library not loaded: /Users/Franz/Projects/appleseed/build/src/appleseed/libappleseed.dylib
  Referenced from: /Users/vinaysshenoy/Development/appleseed_dist/lib/python2.7/appleseed/_appleseedpython.so
  Reason: image not found

It seems like the dist has a hardcoded path to the dynamic library.

Hello, thanks for the report, will look into it. Do appleseed.studio or appleseed.cli work though?

#3

I can confirm and reproduce the problem, it’s an oversight from our part. We’ll provide a fixed appleseed 1.7.0-beta package of macOS shortly. Stay tuned!

#4

Yes, both of them work!

Thanks!
