Steam Locomotive Render

#1

Here is a render of a steam locomotive. The model is from turbosquid.com, the tracks are from sharech.com. I assembled the scene in Poser abd exported it with my Python script. The tracks segment was fairly short, so there are actually 3 instances of the tracks in the scene, displaced in the x direction. Illumination is from an hdr lat/long environment. I did the sepia toning using hdr tools from http://ttic.uchicago.edu/~cotter/projects/hdr_tools/. The adjust tool allows setting different gammas for the rgb channels. I desaturated the render in hdrshop, then ran it through the adjust tool with higher contrast gamma settings on the green and blue channels.

Very nice!

The locomotive could use some more surface details, and if appleseed supported displacement the ballast could use it. Apart from that I like the composition and the render is very clean. Congrats!
